Pigmented Lesions

WHAT IS PIGMENTED LESIONS?

Pigmented lesions occur when the appearance and distribution of melanin (colour in our skin) is affected. Sun spots, melasma and age spots are all examples of pigmented lesions in which melanin has caused the skin to become discoloured in some way, and such lesions can be caused by a variety of factors.

Hormones, ageing and simply lying out in the sun for too long are all contributing factors to the occurrence of pigmented lesions and, in some cases, can leave the skin severely discoloured with an almost freckle-like, speckled appearance.

Pigmented lesions are often brown in colour, and can occur anywhere on the body (including the face).

TREATMENT

Laser treatment is the most commonly-used and successful method of treating pigmented lesions, and that’s what we offer here at PureSkin using the advanced Harmony XL Pro.

Intense laser beam bursts are directly administered to the lesions and, by targeting the dark melanin pigment in the affected area, will significantly eliminate all layers of pigmentation that are responsible for causing the lesions.

Outer layers of the skin won’t be damaged by this treatment and, with prolonged treatment, all pigmented lesions within the treatment area will be successfully eliminated to reveal even-toned, clear skin free of unwanted discolouration.

Established in 2013, we’ve since developed a trustworthy, reliable reputation among clients due to our professional yet flexible service.

We understand the process of any aesthetic treatment can be daunting, especially if it’s your first time, which is why we approach every single case with care and empathy, ensuring to put you at ease and make you feel as comfortable as possible.

    What To Expect?

The use of the Harmony XL Pro means this treatment is virtually painless.

During the procedure, you may feel a slight sensation of warmth or tingling as the laser is administered but, other than that, it’s unlikely you’ll feel anything at all whilst the treatment is being carried out.

For very small, pale lesions, you may notice a reduction in appearance after just one treatment. But, generally, for larger, darker-in-colour pigmented lesions, you’ll need multiple treatment sessions in order for all layers of melanin pigment to be targeted and eliminated from your skin.

It’s also important to note that, directly after treatment, your skin may appear red and slightly inflamed. Whilst this may look alarming, it’s completely normal and simply just your skin reacting to the procedure. Within a mere couple of days, the redness will die down and your skin will look visibly clearer.
